This program featured early baroque works from several European countries, highlighting the Italian influence throughout the seventeenth century. The featured composers are relatively obscure today, but were considered musical super-stars in their own time. They include Colonna, Merula, Pandolfi Meali, Ortiz, Rosenmuller, Lupo, Reiche, Biumi, Kapsburger, Schop ... and of course, the infamous Don Carlo Gesualdo, Duke of Venosa.

  The "musical treasure hunt" included examples of Gesualdo's daring chromatic style, with references to the composer scattered throughout the performance.
