Baroque 'Buts & Guts (Sackbuts and Strings)

This concert featured the glorious sounds of the early baroque orchestra: brasses (sackbuts and cornet) and strings (violins, viola di gamba and violone) accompanied by organ, harpsichord and voice. Highlights included rarely-heard but luscious works by such early baroque masters as Pavel Vejvanovsky, Johann Schmelzer, Giovanni Cesare, Tarquinio Merula, and Carlo Farina:
