Commencing within months after delivering the first Comptometers, Felt's company was called upon to provide trained operators. There was no other practical course than to establish a schooling system which soon became a significant part of the business.
The operators who attended these schools were expected to apply themselves to becoming both rapid and efficent before being certified by the school.
As the popularity of the Comptometer increased, so did the demand for operators and the system of schools grew apace. When International sales rose, training centers were established throughout the world eventually totaling some 150, almost one third of which were foreign based. At the height of the "Comptometer Era", this was the largest private school system in the world!
