Excerpts (2011) William Everson. 7 by 8.5 inches. 12 pages. The text is composed of three excerpts from William Everson’s "The Poem as Icon – Reflections on Printing as a Fine Art" as found in his book Earth Poetry. This book was letterpress printed with handset 18-point Centaur type in black for the text and Weiss Titling II in red for the title.Everson’s rules for typesetting were carefully employed. There are three small illustrations on the title page, in the style of Mary Fabilli, linoleum cut by Laura Lago. The paper is white rag paper made by Peter Thomas. There are 8 pages of text, two French folded four-deckle sheets, which were printed on a Vandercook using point registration, with the second color hand inked and dropped in. There are three statements, each printed on one page with red squares above the text. The book is full bound in linen. A small section of an illustration, also in the style of Mary Fabilli, linoleum cut by Laura Lago, is set in a panel on the front cover. There are 10 copies of which 8 are for sale. $275.
