I have a preference...

First of all:Why do I prefer (GTE) Verizon Wireless.
- I think CDMA is better than the other Digital technologies that are used, GSM is second; However, Analog (AMPS) is still good!
- Digital at its best, is never as good as Analog at its best! The cariers (service providers) want to kill off Analog, becouse thay can sell (at least) 3 Digital users to 1 Analog user. Basically because of how the technologies work.
- Coverage is ok (not great, just ok. But they did, just, finally, put up a new cell site in a (GTE) black hole (called down town Soquel (Ca.) This helped Old San Jose Road to the Summit (Rd) area too!), one down three to go! Next, I hope is, between Watsenville and Aptos on Hwy-1. Hay-Hay, they got yet another cell site up!! Then there is the Santa Cruz City area; lack of (CDMA) call capacity; West Cliff area is the worst, as well as Hwy-17/1 interchange area/Pasetempo Area? In those areas I have GOOD SIGNAL STRENGTH, but lots of calls (blocking) that wont go through and call quality problems. And finally (I'm last) Dear Park/RDM, Aptos area need its own cell site (So-so signal strength, 2-4 bars - call quality).
- Voice quality, ok - Vary, vary cell phone dependent!!! (Don't be cheep!, buy a Motorola P8767, ST7868, etc.; the best, or a Qualcomm (Kyocera) 860; the werst of the best, i.e. there ~ok). The phones really dose seem to mater (A good bad phone can pass the tests. This is (I think) because, during a phone test, at the repair facility, it connected to a cell site simulator, via a coax directly to the phone. Under this condition the phone is under ideal conditions. It isn't hearing it own noise, external noise, adjacent channel interference (or other source) and it is not trying to hear one P.N. code over the noise of 64 others P.N. codes (other cell phone users)?
- Not because there the best, but instead, there a little less of a pain in the but! (Remember, I manage approximately 50 wireless phone accounts - I have to deal with them all (GTE(Verizon), AirTouch, CellularOne, AT&T, Dobsen/Cell-1, Sprint, and Pac Bell Wireless(Singlular).
- Customer service is better than most (I wasn't impressed (and still not). But now that I'm in-charge of ALL the wireless service at my work; I have to deal with them all) I now know how bad the rest are; to compare to... This is not to say there good.
- When I first got service, I made a big mistake; I used a reseller of cellular service, Activate Cellular. I recommend to use the corporate stores instead. In Santa Cruz there in Capitola on 41st Ave., past Capitola Ave., on the left near Little Seizures Pizza.
